Every day with my little one is a new experience, and a reminder of how sweet and simple life really is. Even with yukky diapers.

The Sweetest Thing...
Cassidy is really starting to show more affection towards us now. It's very sweet. She'll especially show this while we're winding down for bedtime. I've established a bedtime routine that helps cue her that it's approaching night-night time, which includes dinner, clean-up, a bath, then either play downstairs or books in her room, depending on the time. She'll still have a bottle before she falls asleep, and I'll admit, she no longer lets us put her down while she's awake. Too much to do, especially now that she can stand up in her crib! One of the signals I use to let her know it's time to settle down, is laying on the floor with her. While we're in her room, I'll turn out the light, and just have the nightlight on, and I'll lay down quietly on the floor, while she scuttles around me. Eventually, she'll move closer and closer, and then she'll kind of fall over and lay her head on my shoulder, or snuggle in with me and let me rub or pat her back. Sometimes she'll just lay down on her tummy next to me and let me rub her back, or she'll actually let me pull her on my chest and lay her teeny head down on my shoulder. It's so wonderful, such an amazing feeling of total love to have this baby so close to me. She's so full of energy that it's hard for her to settle down sometimes, but this routine has helped immensely. She'll do the same thing if I can't get her in her crib, and I have to pull her into bed with me. She'll sit up, but won't crawl around like she does in the morning, and again, just kind of flop down on me and snuggle in. This usually ends up with her falling asleep with her feet poking in my side. Not the most comfortable feeling, but I think it makes her feel very secure. And you should see her on the weekends when both daddy and mommy are there- it's like a holiday for her! She'll flop back and forth between us, laying her head on my shoulder, then Eric's, then mine, back and forth. It signals to me that she just loves to have the physical connection with us. Alot of times, she'll wake up at night just to feel our hands on her. We're really trying to wean her off of her night time bottle, but some nights it's just so hard, and since we're not letting her cry it out, we dilligently get up, comfort her, and she'll settle back down. Eric will be gone this entire weekend, so I'll have her 24/7. It'll be pretty exhausting, but I am looking forward to being a full time mommy, if only for a few days....hopefully she won't throw up on our bed like she did the other night! Gave new meaning to "blowing chunks...".... and i mean chunks of strawberry, zucchinni, and an entire bottle! She wasn't sick or anything, I think she just ate way too much, and out it came! I felt so badly for her, but honestly, as with most things, it upset me more than her. We got it all cleaned up, and then I wouldn't let her out of my sight just in case she got sick again. So we had a nice little co sleeping session....somehow I predict there might be a little more co sleeping while daddy's gone...(hee heee! )
